Your Health by Da-Sign

Possible Health Issues*
How To Prevent Them

By Samuel Reynolds**

Each astrological sign governs, or is associated with, a different part of our individual bodies. As we attune ourselves to each sign, we can anticipate and alleviate the health problems that materialize. At one time in human history, one couldn't be a practicing physician without strong knowledge of astrology, but we indeed no longer live in such times. We then advise you to continue following the advice of your medical or healthcare professionals. This article helps to anticipate what health problems could arise based on your Sun sign, and offers common-sense preventive health tips.

Aries (March 21-April 19)
Your traits: ambitious, inventive, confident and independent. You can be impatient, but your creativity and high energy inspire people and make you a natural leader.

Ruling the head, Aries can make one more prone to headaches, particularly migraines. Aries likes to be on the go and this sounds exciting, but it may also put a lot of stress and strain on the membrane. It also makes the Aries more prone to accidents and blows to the head. Find time to relax and avoid rushing.

Famous Ariens: Leonardo Da Vinci, Aretha Franklin, Thomas Jefferson

Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Your traits: practical, loyal, dependable and patient. You have strong opinions, but are slow to anger.

Often associated with the throat, Taureans are particularly susceptible to throat infections, goiters and problems with the thyroid. The throat area deals with how we generate love and express our unique talents and abilities. If they block their blessings and creativity, Bulls could come to face trouble in the areas cited.

Famous Taureans: Sigmund Freud, Audrey Hepburn, William Shakespeare

Gemini (May 21-June 21)
Your traits: enthusiastic, communicative, optimistic and intellectually curious. You are full of passion and energy, and have a voracious appetite for new experiences.

Gemini rules the lungs and respiratory system. If we find ourselves always on the run, including our minds and mouths, then we deplete vital energies from our lungs. This could make Gemini vulnerable to recurring colds, bronchitis and asthma. It's good for Gemini to find time to breathe through meditation and mental stillness.

Famous Geminis: John F. Kennedy, Henry Kissinger, Marilyn Monroe

Cancer (June 22-July 22)
Your traits: compassionate, energetic, intuitive and imaginative. Your sensitivity, loyalty and organizational skills make you an excellent caregiver.

Our guts and stomach are watched over by Cancer. As the Moon governs both Cancer and our emotions, Cancers have to watch strong emotions, as they tend to raise the tides of acids and fluids in our bodies. One secret to Cancerian health is to ride the low tides of one's emotions when preparing and eating meals.

Famous Cancers: Diana, Princess of Wales, Nelson Mandela, Nelson Rockefeller

Leo (July 23-Aug 22)
Your traits: ambitious, confident, optimistic, straightforward and outgoing. Your generous, dramatic presence draws others to you.

The Sun, as the heart of our solar system, is Leo's ruler. In the human body, Leos are prone to heart ailments and back problems, as the spine is the "heart" of our nervous system. Overall, generosity of spirit (but not too much), aerobic exercise and chlorophyll -- found in leafy green vegetables, for example -- will keep the Leo roaring.

Famous Leos: Bill Clinton, Alfred Hitchcock, Jacqueline Onassis

Virgo (Aug 23-Sept 22)
Your traits: observant, meticulous, friendly and industrious. Thanks to your patient, analytical nature, you are an excellent problem solver.

As an analytical sign of the zodiac, the energy of Virgo resonates most with the digestive tract in the human body, where food is completely broken down. However, if a Virgo confuses analysis with worry, then he or she can expect ulcers and other digestion problems. Calming teas like chamomile will help.

Famous Virgos: Ray Charles, Stephen King, Mother Teresa

Libra (Sept 23-Oct 22)
Your traits: diplomatic, idealistic, easygoing, creative and sociable. Your gregarious and trustworthy nature makes you well-liked by all.

We find Libra balancing the body through the kidneys and bladder like a scale. Of course, drinking plenty of clear water is one way to maintain the Libra function in the body; but it's also important for Libra to keep clarity in their relationships with other people. If they neglect either, they could find themselves at the heartbreak hotel, as well as the urologist.

Famous Libras: Mahatma Gandhi, Jesse Jackson, Eleanor Roosevelt

Scorpio (Oct 23-Nov 21)
Your traits: purposeful, motivated, energetic and passionate. Your mental strength and resourcefulness make others feel safe around you.

The intensity of Scorpio is well matched with the bodily functions of the reproductive and excretory systems. This literally puts Scorpio at the threshold between life and death. In nutrition, this means plenty of fiber and roughage in their diets. In general, it's never too good for Scorpio to hold onto emotions or anything else for too long.

Famous Scorpios: Hillary Rodham Clinton, Bill Gates, Pablo Picasso

Sagittarius (Nov 11-Dec 21)
Your traits: positive, adventurous, ethical and sincere. You love to travel and learn new things, and then communicate your newfound knowledge to others.

As Sagittarius rules over the thighs and the sciatic nerve (the longest nerve in the body), the clear path to health is to exercise those legs as often as possible. Jupiter, as the largest planet in our solar system, is also the ruler of Sagittarius and the liver, the largest bodily organ. This provides us with another health counter-intuitive clue by actually advocating moderation in enjoying the finer things in life like alcohol, for instance.

Famous Sagittarians: Jane Austen, Walt Disney, Frank Sinatra

Capricorn (December 22-Jauary 19)
Your traits: Responsible, disciplined, ambitious and authoritative. Your serious, goal-oriented temperament pushes you to succeed in all you do.

Capricorn resonates with our skeletal structure. Natural calcium sources in milk and leafy vegetables maintain the strength of our bones. However, if Capricorns become too rigid in their thinking, they're likely to suffer problems with arthritis, rheumatism and fragile bones and teeth.

Famous Capricorns: Benjamin Franklin, Howard Hughes, Martin Luther King

Aquarius (Jan 20-Feb 18)
Your traits: Innovative, tolerant, personable and quick-witted. Creative and independent, you set the trends that others follow.

Aquarians love networking and building a community. In the body, this is most akin to the nervous and circulatory systems. Like Capricorns, Aquarians are susceptible to arthritis from poor circulation, especially if the mind is involved more than the heart. On the other hand, if they become too ambitious and zealous in their humanitarian endeavors, they're also prone to having nervous disorders as well.

Famous Aquarians: Charles Darwin, Thomas Edison, Gertrude Stein

Pisces (Feb 19-Mar 20)
Your traits: empathetic, patient, artistic and loyal. Due to your kind and intuitive nature, others often turn to you for support.

The Fish is traditionally associated with the feet; however, in more modern times, astrologers also connect Pisces with the lymphatic system, which maintains our immune system. It's important for Pisceans to get plenty of dreamtime and rest, as nothing compromises the immune system faster than a lack of sleep.

Famous Pisceans: Albert Einstein, Elizabeth Taylor, George Washington --
